Richard Schechner

Richard Schechner è professore di Performance Studies presso la Tisch School of the Arts della New York University ed editore di «TDR: The Drama Review».

Ha conseguito la laurea Bachelor of Arts presso la Cornell University nel 1956, un Master dalla University of Iowa due anni più tardi, e un dottorato di ricerca dalla Tulane University nel 1962.

Schechner è stato il fondatore del dipartimento di Performance Studies della Tisch School of the Arts; ha dato vita a The Performance Group of New York nel 1967 e ne è stato direttore artistico fino al 1980.

Nel 1992, Schechner fondò la East Coast Artists, di cui è stato direttore artistico fino al 2009.
